bats stop trying to scare him... he may think you intend to hang him off the balcony :hahano:

andy... i can agree there is always stuff to learn, even about things we think we already know.

when he is ready he'll find his way back, if he doesn't that just means his times come for him to move on :dunno:
im not gonna ask him to comeback, i will tell him people want him back and that he should at least take a glance at the thread...but decision lays with him in the end.

I think getting the Olympics is more of a punishment than a prize :D

Humans, the world over, do really stupid and cruel shit... are there actual races of people worse than others? Why should Japanese people be done out of hosting the Olympics because of Whale hunting? Should the Spanish be banned for Bull fighting? Should Britain be banned because we slaughter cows, sheep and pigs in abattoirs?

Bottom line, the planet is fucked! And so are people! :O

Yeah, but, the olympics is a symbol of everything that is great about competition, in case we pay too much attention to the day to day consequences of 'competition/desperation'.

To add, people don't need to eat Whales. And there are Japanese people against it... I remember a passionate debate on telly one night when I lived there, full of spit, red faces, and raised voices.

What are we? Nature, by it's very err, nature, is competitive, often brutally so.
What the hell are we?! :O Kind? Brutal? Competitive? Co-Operative?

you're thinking too much wolf... all species are capable of great compassion, even humans...although i see it more from other species you wouldn't expect it from.

pigs rubbing up against the butcher like a cat, knowing by the smells and vibes it's going to die, but still feeling.
a horse nuzzling up on someone who is bleeding or hurt.
a dog sitting by your side when you're pissed off, even knowing you don't want it there, it insists on giving you silent comfort.

if humans are gonna claim to be the top of the food chain, we should be able to show compassion on all levels towards each other and other species as well.

But we can't feel bad for the Whales, and point fingers, whilst tucking into juicy cow flesh! :chuckle:

you're right, we can't... which is where unconditional compassion comes in. you take life with honor and only in the amount of which you need (not mass murder where 1000's are killed and left rotting)...kill only what you will eat and thank it for giving its life for your survival.

there is a reason, beyond health reasons, why people are vegetarian and vegan... part of it has to do with guilt, and respecting other life forms. kinda like, if something dies a horrible death, a violent one, and then the person eats that...the vibes or frequency of that transfer through it and leaves an imprint on the person.

idk if that makes sense or not but you have to feel sorry for all of them, even the one your eating. have understanding, be conscious of yourself and what you do, what you put into your body and so on. humans are consumers, but we're also wasteful...that is what has to change, whether it is just one thing at a time (saving the dolphins/whales now, saving a cow or pig later that doesn't have to die because there is enough already).

cows are so fuckin stupid, and they aren't endangered.. but whales and dolphins are majestic smart creatures. i mean come on, you can't say i eat hamburger so who am i to tell someone they can't eat tigers. farming animals and hunting is different, but when you hunt stuff in a particularly cruel way and its intelligent and endangered.. thats so bad.

cows ain't stupid bats... you think they really cant find the hole in the fence they got out, maybe its just they dont want back in the pen, because once put back in the pen if you dont fix the opening they will get out again (they know its there) :coffee:

just because they communicate and function on a different level than you doesn't mean their stupid... think about it. there is probably a "smarter" race or species than humans out there, they might think we're stupid because of what we do (drop bombs that wipe out entire civilizations for example).

There do seem to be 'prey' animals... You don't see 200 lions chasing 10 Wildebestes.

Dolphin society is quite violent, you don't see cows kicking each others arse.

I think vegetarianism is a lifestyle choice rather than our true nature.

The Japanese can survive without Whale flesh. We should only eat what we need.

If you could just point me to the pissing contest and cat fight before jhado said "FU"and left, I would be most greatful, stars.

As far as the thread goes, I only see reasoned and intelligent debate.

probably bad choice of wording on my part honestly... i was kinda generalizing everyone (including myself) and the threads around here. we all have a tendency to let things get heated and snap at each other when we should in some cases just either do or don't but not get into it with each other.

hey every time i had to deal with a cow it was a moron. they just dont have any kind of .. spark in em. not even when they run away or come see you. they just durrrrr....... moooooo durr chomp chomp chomp.
mr wolf youre right about prey animals too. you can kinda tell, but hunting animals know for sure. my cats growl at deer if they see them like they have a big kill me and eat me sign.
i think its just natural. maybe 200 years ago people ate whales as a way to survive, but now, we are mechanized, mobile, and billions of us. we cant eat slow breeding slow growing animals, and we know how they are such sensitive and cognitive creatures. like elephants too. i think its wrong to kill something that can feel and empathize and think, plan, remember, express itself.. its an equal not a beast anymore.
hey you show me a pet chicken, i wont eat it. you show me a pet pig i wont eat it either. but a beasts a beast, and its ok to eat it. its nature. you just be merciful, thankful and dont waste.

not everything should have to be a debate though i think is the point... some things should just be.
if it were a petition against the mass murder of children, or sacrifice of children, we wouldn't be having a debate about it...we would just either sign or ignore (at least i hope we would and not get into a debate over it, intelligent or not).
