We may aswell ask every country in the world to stop fishing altogether.
Its a very hypocritical thing tbh, if people want it to stop then they have to stop buying the fish.

They have/had a whaling industry over there, it's called a 'scientific research program'. They don't just catch them by accident. Whale meat isn't as popular as it used to be though, most Japanese people don't want to eat it anymore.

Icleanders eat whale and have a 'scientific research program' too. There are also other places where they still follow traditions to do with whaling.

The chinese shift over 50 million tonnes of fish a year, no-one seemed to give a shit about that when they had the olympics.
Its like 10 times as much as japan.
/shrugs.

Not to mention the terrible human rights record. Also, what about us holding the London Olympics after killing all them Muslim types.
Everyone likes dolphins and whales. Didn't you ever listen to Nirvana, fish don't have any feelings?

Its always creatures we associate with and we ignore the rest, it just makes no sense to me so I don't see the point in the petition about the olympics because loads of govts incl the UK and US commit far worse atrocities yet we never get asked to sign any petition against them hosting the olympics.

If we genuinely want to stop them killing whales etc then we have to stop buying the meat. The world is motivated by profit, not petitions.

Andy, dolphins and whales aren't fish. The only people who buy the dolphin and whale meat are possibly the Japanese and other nations who are allowed to kill their own whales for 'research'. You're joking about them being fish right?

But that is the main crux of the argument here. There's only a petition about whales and dolphins because they're so intelligent. The Japanese mostly kill and eat the same animals as we do, but nobody's pissed off about them killing chickens.

I have utmost respect for vegetarians and vegans campaigning against this sort of thing but any meat eating leather wearing people who choose one animal over another are silly (not including human) like horses over cows etc.
