I reckon that every group of people get negative publicity at some point gives everyone a chance to pick who they 'blame' - divide and rule - whilst we are all singling out the single parents - homosexuals - the elderly - the disabled - every class of people the daily mail can put a label to - big business and the banking world get away with fixing prices, fixing interest rates and knocking out dodgy products to people with the 'keeping up with the joneses' mentality who end up bankrolling the system till they have are bankrupt financially or morally or both themselves.

I see people calling for the reduction of benefits on the rationale that 'that'll learn em' forgetting that it is human beings we are talking about - or calls to sterilise those who refuse or are unable to take responsibility - but that doesnt address the problems that person is facing it just stops us having to care - I loathe the dehumanising that goes on both in the mainstream and in the conspiracy worlds.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Indeed mail only mentioned as i am of the impression most here feel the same way about it and its rhetoric - they also have a real obsession with 'class'

The Mail are totally obsessed with class. I read the Femail section of their site so that I can feel moral indignation stiring in my feminist parts. The articles about how middle class people can *shock horror* steal, take drugs and do other naughty things are a hoot. Who would have guessed? :chuckle:

I like the Mail. For some reason Ms dub is a regular visitor to their site ( I think she likes to know what the manipulators are up to) and whenever I look over her shoulder to check she isn't doing something like plotting to leave me I see all kinds of scantily clad beautiful ladies festooned down the right hand side of the page. :)

This thread was started because I wanted to discuss the double standards in parenting, gender stereotypes, the media's shitty attitude towards single mums and how this is also a class issue. I never imagined that lesbian bashing would be involved.
