I can't decide
on one hand I always have a kneejerk response against any of that spiritual new age shit.
but on the other hand it's hard to explain just how half the world woke up in the last couple of years.

so what do you think?
Is there an external influence causing humans to take an interest in these subjects?

Yes, although my definition of this 'spiritual' awakening is a very simple one along the lines of libertarian thought.
I don't necessarily see it as being 'global' nor do I see it as overcoming whats going on.

I think that most people get to a point in life where they start pondering and questioning the more esoteric things in life - particularly as we get older and start thinking about our own mortality etc - I also think that when people ask questions which cannot be answered by 'normal' avenues the spiritual can offer great comfort and hope - (hope that doesnt sound patronising apologies if it does)
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

Do you mean that it is the idea that people aren't as free as they thought they were that has spread?
Instead of some kind of external 'energy'?

I could believe that, it's still something of a shock just how fast it has happened though

With people like Icke and many others all talking about this awakening for years and then suddenly it seemed to happen, it's hard to dismiss the idea that something else has influenced the global consciousness.

yes true, but the population of the world hasn't got any older on average over the last couple of years, why the sudden change?

I simply mean that people are slowly awakening to their own need for self-reliance.
To be left alone by government and to have no wish to partake in it.

I do see that happening just as I see a movement away from other forms of authority such as religion but like I said, I don't see it changing much. If this had happened a couple hundred years ago in a big way then perhaps things would be different but I doubt this change is going to make the headway we'd like to see it do because tech control will stamp it out too rapidly for it to flourish.

I think, if anything, youtube etc is probably the catalyst for the sudden upturn in awareness.
Whether that is a spiritual awakening I reserve judgement on.

I look around at a society which is predominantly concerned with material acquisitions
rather than one which contemplates ethereal concepts.

Can I also say that I take the position that waiting/hoping on G-D, Archons or other dimensional beings interceding to correct things is a huge abdication of individual and collective responsibility.

See also blaming them for it all going wrong.

This is a big part of it, imo. If "spiritual" awakening is really the right term for it, that is. I think you can push people so far financially before something snaps and serves as the kick up the arse we sometimes need to stand back and evaluate stuff.

Whether or not it's all been done by design, it has served just this purpose for many people and will continue to do so.

ok, I can see that an idea of freedom can spread like wildfire, especially in repressive times.
but I lived through the Winter of Discontent and the Miner's strike, thatchers destruction of the unions and the dismantling of nationalised industry, nobody was talking about freedom from the state much back then, now it's everywhere

You're probably right about youtube, but I'm beginning to think there's more going on
people seem to know there's something coming, even the ones who don't watch alternative media.

There's one other aspect to this, all this was predicted, often with incredible accuracy, not only by all three of the main Abrahamic texts, but also countless other cultures have specific prophecies about this time, this awakening, Armageddon literally means the lifting of the veil, the same as Revelation

how did they know that?

Perhaps because it's all just a little bit of history repeating itself?

yeah you could be right, a lot of those cultures seem to put a lot of importance on the precession of the equinoxes.

I'm with you 100% on the first point and 50% on the second :chuckle:

I agree blaming and hating on these shadowy illuminati figures is dumb and self defeating, but there is this fashionable idea that somehow we are responsible.
That idea is very much being pushed by social engineers like Tavistock.

Replace the catholic guilt with enviromental guilt, as long as the masses don't blame those really responsible.

Alot of people's time seems to be spent on fighting.

Fighting to have enough money, then when the reach that goal they want more...more possesions, a bigger house a better car.

I think, to me anyway, spirutual awakening is about realising you have the power to change things and make a difference , and when you engage with someone else , in a good and postive way , it does make a difference.

Happiness comes from within.

There may or might not be a god or gods but , I believe , and I might be alone in this, that it all doesn't end here

I understand where you're coming from, Mart. A lot of the 'new age' material is just watered down material for western consumption. Not much of it isn't actually geared toward progression, rather it appears to be geared toward setting up another social casting system that prides itself on social status and the exclusion of others who do not meet a set of moral and ideological standards. Case in point, we have the rampant use of words like 'sheeple' and 'skeptic' in ways intended to create a social divide. It's not unlike the use of words/phrases such as 'non believer', 'heretic', 'heathen', etc.

The flip side, as you have pointed out, shows there to be a noticeable increase in awareness on several levels. It's seen in people from different walks of life, even those who have no affiliation with new aged concepts or alternative research. I myself have noticed this trend. Studies have been conducted to understand it as well. One of the more well documented studies was devised and conducted by James R. Flynn. These studies gathered the IQ tests from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, Denmark, East Germany, France, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United States of America, and West Germany. They showed a generational increase in intelligence of an average of 5 to 25 point increases per generation and region. As a result IQ tests have had to be restandardized to work with the rising intelligence. Similar tests have also shown increases in countries and cultures who do not incorporate typical education programs, as well as nations and cultures without access to libraries and the internet. To the best of my knowledge, there is no official explanation for this. Several theories have been presented. Theories ranging from increased nutrition, increases in medical science, access to physical and digital libraries, etc. How-ever I have found flaws in many of these theories, so for me it remains unexplained.

Based upon on my own research, the only material I have crossed that comes close to explaining this interesting phenomena are the ancient texts that describe a spiritual and intellectual advancement in this particular point in time. The ancients put a very large emphasis on the heavens, showing great admiration, understanding, and respect for what they perceived to be cosmological influence. It's interesting to note that for several thousand years, humanity didn't really advance a whole lot.Since the advent of the industrial revolution to present day (262 years), there have been more advancements on several levels than all of human history combined. What really caught my attention was that it coincided points in development described the ancient Indians, Chinese, Mayans, and south western Native American tribes. Are we indeed being influenced on a cosmic level? The short answer, for me at least is yes. Is this increase in intelligence and conscious awareness all being influenced on a grand cosmological level? Certainly not. Cultural, spiritual, political, and technological influences all play a role. How-ever for me, the evidence is undeniable that there is indeed something going on, and appears to be cyclical in nature.
Form is merely a momentary manifestation of being, not a fixed reality.

History doesn't repeat itself, uninformed people repeat history.

To all progressive endeavors great or small, come unforeseen benefits on a scale larger than most give pause or contemplation of.

great post Indi :)
It's interesting that I.Q.'s have been rising, they are just tests for pattern recognition, vocabulary and logical problem solving but as you said it's a good indicator that there is something happening to human consciousness.
I don't know of any way to test the creative aspects of consciousness so it would be hard to find out if there is a change there, seems likely though.

I think i'm coming round to the idea that you are right, human consciousness is influenced by some external force and it does seem to go through cycles.
Isn't this something close to what Terence Mckenna believed with his Timewave Zero theories?
I haven't looked into it much so I could be way off.

I think it's all more of the old "King's Clothes" stuff and rehashed Old Age (never mind New Age) nonsense. Religion in new clothes - and if you don't see it, you're the unawakened, the unspiritual, the lump of meat that will be "left behind".

Today, we have "enlightened people" more heavily on their knees to more "gods and goddesses" than ever before; worshipping anything they can - even angels! - in the hope that the magic will rub off and help them. Huge swathes of people crippled by superstitions and fears, just like in the Dark Ages, begging and chanting (mantras and affirmations) and placating and sacrificing (giving uip their "attachments" and egos?), tapping their heads a certain number of times in certain places (EFT and such bullshite)....

That people are becoming more aware is down to the way human condidtions have always been improved - our methods of communication. We tell each other things we know or have found out.

If there are improvements happening (or, indeed, not) S'people, innit. Not spirits or angels and demons, gods and demiurges. It's people.

:)
There is no such thing as Thin Air: Thin Air is full of the particles of creation.

Take something that costs you nothing but effort;
And practice, practice, practice until you make it something fabulous.

If he undaunted be....". (Beowulf)....
