Self-sufficiency is the state of not requiring any aid, support, or interaction, for survival; it is therefore a type of personal or collective autonomy. The term self-sufficiency is usually applied to varieties of sustainable living in which nothing is consumed outside of what is produced by the self-sufficient individuals. Examples of attempts at self-sufficiency include simple living, homesteading, off-the-grid, survivalism, DIY ethic and the back-to-the-land movement. Practices that enable or aid self-sufficiency include autonomous building, permaculture, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy. The term is also applied to limited forms of self-sufficiency, for example growing one's own food or becoming economically independent of state subsidies. I suppose that could be construed as a reason for not liking women though tbf there are plenty that have had failed relationships that don't hate women. Myself included. It could never be considered as a reason for a misanthropic world view though could it.
Go on, tell me why you really opted to hate people. Pretty please :)

So...in my case 2 divorces and one failed relationship, that lasted longer than both my marriages put together means i hate men yes?
How the icke did you get that from my words, Jane? :conf:

Because I did and I can :D

en.wikiquote.org/wiki/James_Wesley_Rawles

Before any readers decide to hand their money over so this nutter can buy a bigger hidden ranch from which to exclude people on religious grounds I present a nice review here of James Wesley Rawles’ Patriots. Not the book recommended but the same author.

excludedthird.wordpress.com/tag/james-wesley-rawles/
It’s about a band of white collar city dwellers (all white, ultra-religious, neo-conservative) who set-up a survivalist compound
Likewise, in Rawles’ book, urban dwellers and liberals are presented as “communists,” and “fags” who descend into cannibalism on the drop of a dime. (Yes, Rawles actually says this.)
The creepiest part about reading this book (aside from its many antisocial underpinnings), is the genocidal aura drifting over this moral psychology: the presupposition of and the desire for complete social denigration into violence, want, and exclusion.

nice felle, eh?

I admire your tenacity LW.
:jane:

Mmmkkk. I have picked LW up on some discrepancies in his life story (because lies don't sit well with me) which he cleared up promptly. Cheers for that LW btw.
I have expressed strongly my intolerance of the intolerance LW has shown to anyone of the Muslim faith. I make no apology for that.
I have countered some falsehoods that LW posted about agriculture and the ability of Britain to provide enough food for the people that live here. I make no apology for that. I consider the whole subject of food supply/overpopulation to be laughable knowing what I do about; agriculture, economics and official projections for population. It is a subject that is fraught with propaganda, misinformation, obfuscation and political misuse. I consider it my obligation to counter those things when I encounter them and I make no apology for that.
I do make apology for some of my choices of words. Sometimes I do err. Sorry to anyone that has ever been on the receiving end of that.

I'm all for survival tips. Tbh the whole reason I started the thread on community/self sufficiency was an attempt to engage with LW on the subject. Anyone who is a prepper will ofc understand that the long term is a very very big issue. I was hoping to swap ideas with LW in that thread. As far as I remember, LW hasn't posted in it yet :( I'd love to see discussion of such things as you know, Jane. I'd love to see LW involved. It is hard though when someone is basically saying, " I don't give a fuck if you all die, in fact given the chance I'd be the one to kill you". It hardly engenders trust now does it. I suppose that actually explains why LW hasn't posted in that thread. I guess he doesn't want community or folk working together... :dunno:

So I know how I have interacted with LW and save the one apology (for numerous instances), am at peace with it. If you choose to see my interaction as haranguing then that's for you to be at peace with.

Jane, you should know me by now. Now I am NOT going to quit. :scheme:

Here's from a review of the recommended title
apart from the liberal peppering of religious rhetoric and opinion this book is way too American-centric to be of much use to anybody living outwith the states. There are numerous links to websites that sell products to assist with surviving the end of the world but again, all American based.

And yet our lad LW is English... :chin:

I think the point is if you want to fix a golf you don't buy a manual for a fiesta, jane ;)

Edit: Course, the wise thing to do is to learn as much as you can about principles of mechanics in general, practice it and never buy a manual again :D All cars are basically the same thing with variables :D

So's the book Mikey is doing his utmost to flame...for who's benefit lord only knows.

Hence the reason after studying the Bible for my degree I came to the conclusion it wasn't going to fix my 'fiesta', so I chucked it out a looooong time ago! ;)

Just to say that if the SHTF and I end up in a ranch hidden somewhere in the mountains with a gun in my hands and the willingness to kill starving people and kids and know that while I am warming my buns while they freeze to death, and then in the morning say my prayers and pledge allegiance to the red white and blue, I shall know that I am in Hell.

Rather die with the rest of humanity.

Last time I looked, you can't burn something on a fire without there being a flame!
