how do you get paypal and
a) what is it, how does it work? (I know what it is per-say but will it cost me to set up?)
b) If I was to donate could I do it directly with my bank card or is that insecure
I would like to contribute but a bit nervous about typing my bank details into a computer
Which method is secure?
As frog said dawn, the transaction is handled by paypal, on their site.
The donate buttons here just take people who press it to paypals site, paypal doesnt allow it any other way for security reasons. Anyone using it can check their browser address and see they are on paypals site, and it is https secure SSL.
Once there, dontations can either be made by anybody with a debit or credit card, or alternatively a paypal account for those who have one.
When donating with a card...If anyone has ever used their credit or debit card online when shopping, then it is just like that.
Alternatively, setting up a paypal account is free, all you need is a valid email...then you can deposit small amounts of money in there from your bank account, so it is very safe in my opinion.
I have had a paypal since 2003 and never had any security issues whatsoever.
Once again...because paypal acts as the third party merchant and all transactions are handled by them, we never see anyones credit/debit card details here whatsoever.
What basically happens is, donors give funds to them, and they pass the funds onto us, they are like the secure middleman.
