if someone who has asked to be made inactive wishes to be active here again it should be as the user they signed up as unless they are prepared to elaborate on who they are in a suitable thread as their first post.

If a user has been banned socks should automatically be removed as they were banned for a reason.

Having said that I can understand that a new username may represent a 'new start' however as identities do not remain 'secret' a new username does not a fresh start necessarily make. Particularly if people are not willing to give benefit of the doubt or let previous arguments drop.

there are far too many 'stunning' examples of posters here not even attempting to be respectful to eachother of late whilst I can see that the vast majority stems from frustration and a certain amount of provocation I do not feel that in deviating from that basic tenet of this place that we are either making the situation any better nor enhancing the sz experience.

Personally I would like to see a what happens in 'x' thread stays in 'x' thread stance. Taking arguments into every thread, using someones opinion on one subject to berate them in a totally different thread etc is not conducive to a smooth welcoming atmosphere nor a pleasant experience for those subject to it.

Personal attacks are too many in number and whilst I again appreciate that pointing out eachothers character flaws can be the result of provocation I am not convinced that they are a helpful tool if we wish to create a forum on which trust and respect is based. This space should be somewhere that people feel supported and safe to talk about any issues that are affecting them - throwing these things back in someones face if they are being a bit of a twat is unkind and creates an atmosphere of distrust.

Lastly as I am venting a little and to not leave owt out - racism. If we are going to take such a hard stance against racism, bigotry and prejudice in others, we ourselves must be extra vigilante with ourselves and each other to ensure that our own statements are not in themselves prejudiced, racist or bigoted - otherwise we are quite frankly hypocrites. The examples that were mentioned in another thread are by no means conclusive evidence that we are sliding down a slippery slope but are an indication that fuel is being given to that particular fire.

Have not posted much lately as life has been busy busy - but have been reading threads and there do appear to be some vendettas or people holding on to negativity aimed at others - would be awesome to be able to set those aside and get on with being an awesome forum.
