Experts say three-person IVF could eliminate debilitating and potentially fatal mitochondrial diseases that are passed on from mother to child.

See that word "could" and that word "potentially".

Expect them to disappear.

Expect the discourse to move from the possibility of preventing a potential carrying of a potentially fatal gene on to the duty of parents and doctors to the next generation to be conceived this way in order to "save lives".

Punitive measure nor natural conception and procreation ends up in the hands of the medical professions, who are in whose pockets?

You haven't thought this through feva. This idea would result in every worker arriving late for their shift. As soon as autumn arrived, all work would stop at the first leaf fall. Snow would literally shut down everything...
