18 kids from kindergarten up to 4th grade, 9 adults.
ATF, FBI, Swat, Cops, Fire Department all crawling all over the school.

Shooter, unconfirmed, 24 year old male wearing a bulletproof vest carrying at least 2 guns, over a 100 rounds fired.


This close to Christmas, maybe sit down and send some good thoughts to those families...

I've just been trying to find details of this. there's one report saying there was a second gunman.

AT least 27 people, including up to 18 children, were killed today when the father of a pupil opened fire at an elementary school in the United States.
The gunman is believed to have shot himself after carrying out the worst school massacre in US history. A second gunman is now in custody.
The shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, comes after a series of gun rampages in the United States this year that have killed multiple victims.
Both the headteacher and the school psychologist were among the dead.
Sandy Hook Elementary School teaches children from ages 5 to 10.

"It was horrendous," said Brenda Lebinski, who rushed to the school to rescue her seven-year-old daughter.
"Everyone was in hysterics - parents, students. There were kids coming out of the school bloodied. I don't know if they were shot, but they were bloodied."

Television images showed police and ambulances at the scene, and parents rushing toward the school. Later, parents were seen reuniting with their children and taking them home.

"This is going to be bad," a state official said.

All Newtown schools were placed in lockdown after the shooting, the Newtown Public School District said.

The shooter, an adult, was dead and two handguns were recovered from the scene.

Mrs Lebinski said a mother who was at the school during the shooting told her a "masked man" entered the principal's office and shot the principal.

Her daughter's teacher "immediately locked the door to the classroom and put all the kids in the corner of the room."

Danbury Hospital, about 11 miles west of the school, took in three patients from the scene. The mayor of Danbury, Mark Boughton, said: "They are very serious injuries."
Children described hearing seven loud "booms" as she was in gym class. Other children began crying and teachers moved the students to a nearby office, she said.

"A police officer came in and told us to run outside and so we did," an unidentified girl told local TV.

Connecticut State Police said its officers were at the scene with local police but provided no additional details. The emergency call to police occurred at 9:41 am local time, police said.

Newtown, with a population about 27,000, is in northern Fairfield County and 80 miles northeast of New York City.

Sandy Hook is one of four elementary schools in the district.

The United States has experienced a number of mass shooting rampages this year, most recently in Oregon, where a gunman opened fire at a shopping mall on Tuesday, killing two people and then himself.

The deadliest attack came in July at a midnight screening of a Batman film in Colorado that killed 12 people and wounded 58.

Unconfirmed source saying the death toll closer to (if not above) 30 dead... there had been multiple injuries, so it is possible.



Sketti... they were just babies. As for the guns, yup...brilliant idea if they do that, then it just leaves people like who did this with access to guns. I'd rather see teachers carrying concealed and able to shoot back, or maybe 5 or 6 people give their lives by some distracting a shooter and the others tackling him and taking him out immediately instead of cowering in a corner or under a desk. All the while, the rest of the school locks doors and gets kids the fuck out of the building as fast as they can.

Suspected shooter identified... Ryan Lanza in his 20's (not sure if this is confirmed or not).

Bat's, no idea how anyone could even contemplate doing this... I can't wrap my head around it no matter how I try. No possible motive has been mentioned, yet.

We've been on the road to a lot of sharp changes including "security" and "identification" and some schools requiring microchips to be carried to enter school (worn around the neck, but probably, eventually, inserted into the child)

Very distressing situation and lots of heartache for these people now. .

I remember years ago reading about the background to some kids who'd executed one of these high school shootings (notice it's always high school. It's never middle school shootings, or college shootings, or university shootings) and I could entirely understand why it had happened. They were just alienated kids who'd been mocked and bullied and didn't see any future for themselves. Obviously this doesn't justify what happened, but I think it is a big part of the explanation.

I must say that I believe video games don't help either, particularly Call of Duty etc.

But this was an elementary school WUB - 5 to 10 year olds.
