Inevitably there's a lot of talk about guns being banned in the US after this latest atrocity.

I ask anyone who lives there, why is it seemingly so important that the right to bear arms is maintained?
Does this not have an effect on or betray a symptom of, the mindset of the citizens?

Cos lets face it, guns are used for killing things.

This is awful. :(

there seems to be a trend of these nutters posting stuff online before going on their spree.
I don't understand how anybody could do this, aspergers or not.

The idea was that if necessary, there would be a ready made army. The Americans have been blagged that it's some intrinsic cornerstone of their constitutional freedom. And obviously the notion that everybody should be scared enough of using a gun in case somebody pulls one on them first. But that kinda fails when it comes to shooting babies.

What I wanna know is how an RFID (or microchip) can stop a bullet. Not having a go at those proposing that this is the plutocrat’s covert intention, but really, how a chip would prevent a psycho hell bent on shooting you, and then maybe turning the gun on himself, or flat out not caring about going to jail from doing so? What’s the rationale behind it? Tidier corpses? Easier to identify after you kicked it? What? Talk about false sense of security, it’s like; let’s just do something for the sake of doing something.

What I am seeing is that random websites that normally don’t even talk about the news, are talking about this and the general hysteria is: let’s get rid of all the guns! The irony is that trigger happy police, feds, secret service, the military and the criminals they all can keep theirs presumably...

Don't you see a problem with the forces of authority being allowed to carry/own firearms but the population not being allowed to?

Yeah I get why it was put in the constitution (supposedly), I'm asking why seemingly most US citizens cling to it.

How often do armed guys go and shoot schoolkids in Switzerland?

How often do people cattle charge into shops in Switzerland?

How many homeless people are there in Switzerland?

Yet the Swiss can and do bear arms, to the teeth so to speak. Something different has happened in Switzerland than many other places and its important that its understood imho.

I see a problem with guns full stop. I very much doubt the answer to my question is related to the forces of authority having them though any answers that come may show I'm wrong on that.

Guns exist, you can't un-invent them...you can only out-law them.

Which means that only the police and the criminals have access to them.

Guns are just like the money I suppose. Just something we have to evolve beyond which again ofc won't come from authority.

Dubs i will say this...

It's good to come on this forum and see more logic about topics like this than on DIF...

Hundreds of people keep posting on DIF about how this is some conspiracy to take Americas guns away.

Nothing could be further from the truth....

There are 280 million guns in the US and nobody is coming to take everyone's guns away.

People would just bury the guns in their yards or farms, guns would be hidden on abandon property's ect.

It's well known guns are stashed all over inner city's in boarded up homes etc...

Mental heath checks can't solve problems like this when it's the kids mom who bought the guns.

I always complain about the MIC and weapons manufacturers to the point i sound like a broken record.

MSNBC, ABC, CBS and FOX News are talking about the mom should not have had guns with an autistic kid.

Andy, young men between the ages of 19 and 34 are drafted/conscripted to do at least 2 years National Service for Switzerland.

And they aren't even at war with anyone! Perhaps you are not aware of how much the 'government' rules over the citizens of Switzerland?

Thanks for the answer RA, though I'm not sure it does answer my question as to why people in the US feel the need/desire to own guns. I don't mean hunting rifles or shotguns, mostly I mean hand guns which are all about shooting people.

It’s a bit like on the global scale, nuclear weapons are banned... except for those that reserve to themselves the right to have them (namely the U.N. Security Council members *cough*cough*) often self-appointed policemen of the world as well. It’s like a 'haves and have nots' of weapons for either self-defense or aggression at the end it doesn’t matter it only matters who are allowed to have them to the exclusion of everybody else.

WHAT could solve this is just not selling guns to any Tom Dick and Harry....I think being able to legally buying a gun as 'protection' in America a flawed system.

No one needs a gun..I'd hate it if the gun laws that are America were introduced to Britain

It's part of your constipation but perhaps yours constipation is flawed

Because of the right to bear arms from 1791, along with the rest of the Bill of Rights.

I can't speak for the other 300 million Americans because there is many different views on this topic.

Without the bill of rights we would probably also be ruled by people in Castles who wear Diamond Crowns.

Without the right to bear arms would we really have a black president or would the US be under the Sceptre?

Me personally i certainly don't have the answers to these gun problems...

So it really is that just because there is the right to bear them, people want them in your opinion?

That's fekked up if it's so.
