I can't believe that they're trying to run a fully functioning television channel off contributions alone (let's not quibble over the fact that TV channels are usually on...TV). Who the fuck was involved in the planning for this station? They're now looking for another £400,000 to stay on the air:
They started off saying "we need £100,000 to get off the ground", but underestimated the costs of keeping the channel on the air for more than a few weeks by 600%. The problems they're facing were entirely predictable and predicted by me, so I would have thought anyone who has ever worked in the media at any level would have been able to predict them far more easily. Was no-one like this involved in the planning? This is an absolute shambles of a business model, I can’t comment about the content because I haven’t see any of it, but you cannot run things this way, if you’re trying something really ambitious then you need an extremely strong business plan from day one. It makes fucking Infowars look like the slickest operation in the world, which it is by comparison.
Imagine if they turned up on Dragon’s Den; they’d laugh in their face. “We want to run a TV channel, and we want to attract advertisers, but we can’t take any mainstream companies, and we haven’t done adequate market research to suggest who’ll be willing to advertise with us, and we’re not starting off with a small scale operation, possible even a radio station, we’re trying to run a live, 7 days a week TV station from day one, so we’re going to ask people to continue to pour money into a black hole indefinitely in the hope that at some unspecified date in the future we will be able to meet the costs of the station with advertising, although there’s been virtually no advertising so far and the entire budget of the station has come from individual contributions.

Undoubtedly what they're saying about the funding of the BBC is correct, and it is a shame that we live in this corporatised environment where it’s becoming ever harder to compete, but you cannot run a fucking enterprise like this, it’s a total joke. That's not even mentioning that fact that half of their fucking staff are volunteers. How long is that going to go on for?

I don't really think it matters much how long it runs for - they're already in a strong profit situation when it stops airing, by several hundred thousand knicker of technological goodies.
I felt sorry at first for the people who'd donated. Their intentions were good, and they must not be familiar with his previous scams. But for them to keep shelling out when the losing situation's so clear takes real advanced level stupidity.
