I think such channels give an alternative to MSM, however an alternative does not need to be a challenge, and there imo is Icke's TPV mistake, if as he said TPV was to directly challenge MSM with regards to broadcasting standards, equipment, style, material, censorship, etc... then TPV has failed, £400,000 plus has been spent and no challenge has been noted, has it?
If the rhetoric was to provide an alternative, that may start quite low key, and perhaps can be used as a platform for bringing other low key alternatives together, then that would have been another matter.
Part of me thinks it's bordering on impossible to do something better than RT. Obviously RT has nothing valid to say about Russia at all, but they do a good job of reporting on Europe and the United States, they produce the sort of content that the BBC should actually produce given that it's supposed to be a public service broadcaster. It would take a big effort to do something as slick as just the Keiser and Abby Martin programmes on RT, which is only about 4-5 hours programming per week, and not live television.
On the other hand, another part of me thinks that it must be possible for resources to be pooled and everyone put their differences aside, whatever they are, and to produce something of quality that could be broadcast on mainstream television. There is enough interest, enough information, enough material and enough talent to do it; ergo, it should be possible to make enough money to pay your staff and break even. It's all very well and good having stuff on the Internet, but it should be clear by now that this is going to have no significant impact. It's probable that a TV channel would have no significant impact, but it would have a chance. At this point in time, I view everything else as pretty much a waste of time, no matter how good and well meaning it is.
I can only hazard a guess that a 'TPV' channel could work, It would need to be a framework, a space where alternative perspectives can be displayed, if you think about the term 'voice' it means sound, what TPV needs is to work as an amplifier for the sound of peoples voices, in such a way an individual can have their voice heard, or groups can have their voices heard, so be it a solo instrument or an orchestra, TPV needs to be no more than the stage on which the instrument (voice) is played, it would provide the legal framework, the equipment and knowhow, it would be a bit like an alternative networking agency, people would need to pay a little perhaps to have their say, or perhaps post for free on an attached forum, the problem with this TPV is that Icke has filled it with his cronies.
What I would like is to see a platform where people who have had injustices such as Robert Green (Hollie Greg) would have a platform to exchange information with the public, a place where even the likes of Gorgeous George (Galloway) can have his say, also people that can have a bit of a rant exchange about their personal issues with tptb, as for art etc.... surely we want to give an outlet to those who have talent but lack opportunity, all in all Icke had a chance and fucked it up, by dot connecting and supporting his own causes like a selfish prick, I'm sure sooner or later there will be a format as described, it would only take the right entrepreneur(s).
