Had a similar experience to that, when a vodka soaked cretin drove out of a side road into my car, and I spun around in slow motion, willing with every fibre of my being for a group of kids on the pavement to get out of the way. To this day I don't know how I avoided hitting them.

And going back to the angels thing - chemicals in the brain causing hallucinations - (if that's what it was) it's interesting that more than one child described the beautiful, colourful wings, and another described a presence, yet the adults didn't see them.

I remember donkeys years ago reading about experimentation with time in deep holes in the ground, and they found that there was some variation - though it's so long ago, that I don't recall where I read it (it was before I used a PC, as I've only been doing that for about 4 years, other than systems at work).

I don't think you're derailing, Oioi - it's a natural progression of thought. If the tree didn't exist though, how would it have become aged & weathered, or bigger when it was seen at a future date?

But kids know imaginary friends are imaginary - they didn't think these were - and they don't all look the same, do they, or appear en-mass in response to a trigger, so I'm not seeing that as a similar thing really.
