The language of finance is all over our consciousness. We find it difficult to think beyond it. It's not just the current money system. It's embedded deep in our culture in ways we seldom think about. Like when people call for barter - bartering is what people who are used to money do when they haven't got any.

Yesterday, I happened to catch five minutes of Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. Celebs in panto costumes playing for charity. On the face of it at least, charities provide assistance for those in need. They're not getting that cash simply because they need it. They're getting it because celebs in costumes might win it for them for our entertainment. All in a good cause. Will those disabled children or whoever get that cash? Will that celeb score a big win or screw it up? Oh the excitement.
And I thought - am I really in such a minority finding this TV show a demonstration of how totally fucked up our society is?

Wub brought up bitcoin earlier. This week bitcoin have been granted official status. They're now on a par with pay-pal and world pay.
This raises some questions does it not?
I also have questions over the idea of bitcoin farming. Is that not a clear case of people making 'money' from 'money'? Which i contend is part of step 1 in forming a sound currency. That we consign such things to the bin.

Bitcoin has already been hacked and it was nearly the end of it.
The issue I have with it is that you actually spend a fair bit on electricity usage to farm the bitcoins.
So much so in fact its hardly worth bothering.

I still remain an advocate of anarcho-co-op as the only viable means of change we have to date.

I'm very much inclined to agree andy that the only plausible route from 'here' to 'there' is the narco co-op. Be that in the lets style form, registered co-op, community projects or whatever. It's as much about mindset as anything in the statutory world. If the situation arises where for whatever reason people move towards this sort of thing a clear path would emerge toward wise management/distribution of resources. That being the realisation in the collective mind that currency represents a survivalist/competititve basis for everything we do. A low level of 'society' very much rooted in the jungle. I reckon pretty much everyone on the planet is already evolved enough to take the plunge. It is our systems which are unevolved. Our society which is holding the leash on our natural evolutionary development.

Its time to build a new one. One that matches our physical and spiritual state of evolution and is 'future proofed' to enable further evolution.
