Whats the best thing thats ever happened to you, this can not include having your kids, or falling in love with another.

Mine has to be, all my life i was told my birthday was on a certain day, yet all my life i was sure i was born on another day, often i would be met with silence , change of subject of conflicting stories, finally before my Dad died he told me the truth that i had been born the previous day. This year i celebrated my bithday for the first time, and it was such an aum, yeah feeling.

Why did they try to trick you about the day you were born?

I'll have to think about what my best day was, if you can't include your kids arriving into the world. Nothing springs immediately to mind.

My dad remarried about 18 years ago, and because I only visit him a couple of times a year, we always have to go through the routine charade on the doorstep of my stepmum pretending she doesn't know who I am. (This isn't done in a humorous way at all - it's a 'genuine' pretence of confusion).

Then there was my stepmum (God rest her soul) who used to ring up regularly and say, "Oh! Gill - what are you doing there?", to which I invariably replied, "I live here, Joyce".

Mine was obviously having my daughter. I'd never wanted children and was perfectly happy concentrating on my various works... until I went to complain to my doctor about the side effects the injected pill was having on me (it's poison, stop getting those fekkin injections. No wonder so many women are having trouble conceiving nowadays ).

Anyway, my doctor went through all my other options but finally suggested that "at my age" (I was 41) I could consider fallopian tube rings!!! It was only then, when facing the end of it all, that I thought maybe I did want a child. It took some doing (getting that poison out of my system didn't help) but, a month before my 43rd birthday I had my darling girl by c.section. Yeah, that was a good day.

And all the days I got my beautiful animals... *sighs*.... all but Ruby-dog and Midnight the cat no longer with me.

Probably visiting Japan. I went there twice, 2002, and 2003. First time for three weeks, second time for the best part of three months.

I didn't see enough of it tbh, I should have visited more places of interest. I still managed to see Kyoto, Osaka, bit of Tokyo (fucking nightmare, the gaff was beyond busy...the whole trip was made worse by the fact that I was utterly knackered through barely sleeping the night before, and my ex was cranky because it was her time of the month...she punched me in the arm at one point because I didn't want to go shopping. Yeah so the first part of the Tokyo trip was spent arguing)

I stayed in a town called Nakazato, in Kobe. It was built on a mountain...well they removed a massive chunk of the mountain to make way for the town. Before the bulldozers set to work, my ex said Monkeys were often seen in the area. Man screwing animals habitats up as usual

I enjoyed my time there for the most part. The people were warm and friendly, great sense of humour.

Well I'm going to copy Cantata & go with getting my pets (was thinking of it before - honest! )

I'll say my little jack russell, Hannah - well, she's my son's really, but she follows me like a shadow because I'm the one who does the feeds & walks.

Not only is she a joyous creature, but I got her for Al for his 6th birthday, after we'd found a stray 3-legged grey hound on the park, and he'd been furious for days that I wouldn't let him bring it home, because it had a collar on (and wouldn't come to us any way).

His face when I presented him with her was a picture & she was the perfect playmate for him right from the outset - washing his grubby neck, & ragging his socks off.

I'm not saying that life has been shit, it hasn't. I don't have any one event that stands out as the best so maybe it's still to happen. <checks watch and taps the face>

Bought a set of Spike Milligan's war diaries a few years ago and some of them were signed by the fella himself. Only cost a quid from a car boot sale.

I think I need to get out more.
