Facilitating direct democracy via social media etc would be something that might encourage people to vote.
There would be an inkling of hope in such a system.

I know you're not very good at understanding analogies but I'll give it a go.
I disagree with factory farming and eating its meat produce. So I'm a vegetarian. Should I eat meat simply because not enough people will become vegetarians to stop the industry?
Those are incomparable, crap analogy, being a vegetarian requires more activity, more action and involvement than consuming meat from supermarkets etc, you have to grow veg unless you want to get bored and sick from cheaply produced veg.

If you were to make an accurate analogy; you're advocating i should stop eating food altogether, you dumbass.
Your argument is basically if i pretend there is no stomach I won't die of starvation when i stop eating  :good:

I had a feeling it would be a bit much for you and you'd just wibble on with some fallacious conclusions so I'll spell it out more simplistically.

(I disagree with the concept of authoritarian government and its business practices)
So I'm a vegetarian.

I’m glad that you think tens of millions of people being slaughtered by acts ordered by our governments is “bla, bla, bla”!

I've already mentioned one alternative numerous times, and mentioned it within this thread. Ultimately there is no alternative because most people don’t care, or are too fat, dumb, stupid, lazy and ignorant to understand, or it’s easier to brush it under the carpet and pretend that everything is okay. This is not entirely their fault as we live in a completely socially engineered culture in which people turn out the way that they’re supposed to, but observing the slow-motion car crash that is the contemporary world is nevertheless frustrating.

I’m quite lucky because my own life is pretty good. It would be easy for me to wash my hands of the human race and just enjoy myself. But I’m fairly sick of watching billions of underserving people suffer like hell for their entire life for no good reason, not to mention the tens of millions that are slaughtered and hundreds of millions that die from completely preventable illnesses. I appreciate that you don’t care, but that’s up to you.

Seeing as you're so big on voting, who do you advocate voting for?

Yeah right, troll noob 101 just revert to repetition when ridiculed.
I can repeat for you where you are wrong if you insist:
"So I'm a vegetarian" is an active choice in opposition to the status quo.
"I don't vote" is passive acceptance of the status quo.

"Should I vote for something I disagree with because that will stop what I don't believe in?"
Here we revert to metaphysics, I think you lost the plot here didn't you, do you know what you're saying?

I've been writing to the Greens alot and asking why they don't join forces with the Libera Dems, and trying to create a cannabis legalization lobby group which we here think could recruit aroun 1000-3000 current non voters, ultimately I think you should be involved yourself so I don't arrogantly advocate anyone vote for some party based on ideology or belief in their manifesto, you shouldn't really need me to explain to you how your vote or political participation can affect change that is beneficial in your locality and nation as a whole.

The reality is you're all completely non participatory and overall fairly alienated from the collective democratic reality as it exists, the more alienated we become the more dominant become the 1% so I hope you;ve thought through this non-participatory mode of praxis?

Seems a bit like Catatonia to me though.

Good luck!

I'm not alienated from the 'democratic process', I don't (a) believe that a democratic process exists in Britain, and (b) don't agree with representative democracy anyway, as I've said previously. I therefore consider participating in it to be a waste of my time. If you want to call that arrogant, that's fine.

You're fucked man, reverting to mysticism and metaphysical reasoning is not going to make me take your political opinions any more seriously than i did in post #95.
I don't really take anything non-voters say about politics seriously, there's no justification (except not being allowed) for not voting.

But feel free to explain to me how you're more democratically active than somebody who merely ticks a box every four years and I might change my ways and take you seriously.

You are we all are, that's why I reckon we should reassess our attitude towards political participation.
I think our alienation from democracy and governance is the root of representative democracy and many of the issues you and others here raise regarding politics, I don't really disagree with the problems you list I just prefer to hold some position within the structure in order that my arguments against it be taken seriously.

I've had some very good responses from local Conservative MP's in various letters, it's like chess, you get them to take public positions then after a while, after they've had time to act in order to be judged against their positions you can challenge them on their positions, hold them to their word etc.
An example of this is when the Climate gate emails were leaked I sent loads of Right Wing reactionary sounding letters to my local Tory MP and he took a very firm public stance on action over Climate Change which is supported by the majority of scientists, since then he's gone on the be fully uncooperative in this regard since the Tories have made Power, so that reminds me I should be making his bullshit and duplicity more publically known

Go back and look at the foreign policy and wealth distribution figures. Engage with the ‘democratic process’, vote for ‘left-wing’ parties, and then come back and tell me when the situation improves. When it does improve, I might consider registering to vote.

Mysticism & metaphysical reasoning? What the fuck are you babbling about?
It was a demonstration which showed clearly that you think your own reasoning is flawed.

When there is an option to take part in a democratic process, I'll let you know.
In the meantime, you just keep on ignoring the myriad of reasons which have been pointed out to you not to vote for a system which is clearly shagging everybody up the arse harder and harder, and voting again and again for it will only make matters worse. I'm not sure how you can't possibly see this.

I've still yet to hear a good reason to vote. When you're ready....
