Is bitterness the downfall of humanity or is it natural in a human being?
I wonder about this topic sometimes when i stop in at local bar and see the regulars.
And i was just reading this article about Why Social Media Makes Us Bitter.
www.forbes.com/sites/alicegwalton/2013/0...dia-makes-us-bitter/It's very interesting, I don't think you should just say "it makes us bitter", there are obviously some people on there who get the complete opposite feelings, who derive confirmation, status and a positive image from facebook, it would be interesting to analyze the end of whatever constitutes a successful/positive facebook persona, and whether it or not it is anything more than a superficial representation of a real lifestyle in the style of the tabloid Media Celebrity lifestyle.
I like your points LesleyPumpShaft!
So i'd say, response to Facebook comes down to one's ability to consume and diversity of one's consumption, but now this consumption is linked to a new form of production, ie production of the image, the new facebook persona, from which respect, social status is derived to bolster the increasingly obvious worthlessness of the constant consumption we use FB to derive worth from, we all do PR for the various modes of consumption, we use facebook to advertise the newest forms of commodity; lifestyles, ideology, entertainment, technology, experiences, we perpetuate hedonistic bourgeois cultural norms, the software entirely reinforces inequality, community divisions, bullying and increases alienation, and so on, but it also reinforces the positive aspects of consumerism for those who put in the effort.
