The magazine Private Eye takes the piss outta Cameron in a section where it pretends he's headmaster of a school doing a weekly newsletter, he always tries to bring up "sports day" the olympics when things aren't going well, as an attempt to raise moral :D reminds me of RA's points in this thread.

Poverty keeps armies filled with soldiers, in the west at any rate.
A soldier is an ex man. Handing all of his decision making processes and choices to someone else. It's pretty strange when you think about it... I suppose some people just need to be told what to do.
A soldier might also have nothing to lose... if there's nothing for him in his town. Maybe it's a "fuck it, what else is there?" kind of attitude.

You could say all the same things about people employed by others to an extent though.

I'd argue that we all need someone to tell us what to do occasionally.
Life is a complex game and the observations and experiences of others can often help us navigate it better.

I was talking more about giving yourself up, handing yourself over to someone else to the point of actually ending another man's life because you've been told to.
Becoming a willing pawn in the elite's war games. A tool to be used to further the interests of corporations. The problem is, these people that join up think they're doing good, saving us from the terrorists. Maybe others just see it as a job

The three poisons (Sanskrit: triviṣa; Tibetan: dug gsum) or the three unwholesome roots (Sanskrit: akuśala-mūla; Pāli: akusala-mūla), in Buddhism, refer to the three root kleshas of ignorance, attachment, and aversion. These three poisons are considered to be the cause of suffering (Sanskrit: dukkha).

The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you.. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables so that, they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!

Its true what successful people say about bitter friends they grew up with that they call haters now.

I honestly believe that bitterness and jealousy in some people drives others to be so successful.

I could go on for days about stuff i have seen in the real world which leads me to these conclusions.

There is a fine line between trying to help a bitter person have a more fun life and getting caught in a misery loves company circumstance.
