Good game again. Can't believe I couldn't manage to pull off a finish there. It was a pretty unusual game because most of it was played without quite a few pieces so it was very open.

Well, you played all the right attacking moves in the other game, albeit it wasn't the best game from me, I had a bit of a brain freeze. I kept forgetting you could checkmate me with the rook, I nearly lost in 15 moves. I could have resigned quite a bit earlier, I was just waiting to see if you found all the right moves, which you did.

In the other game, it looks dangerous, the problem was your king was too exposed so I could just keep checking it.

Yeh I knew once I lost the other rook that it would be difficult to maintain attack and defend at the same time.

I hate that opening!
Never seem to be able to find the best way to deal with it and always end up in a losing position!

It's a good opening, not many people know it that well.

You can look up the openings here and find something better:

Not played well today. Too many stupid mistakes!
I've been trying to do my literature review for my dissertation at the same time & everytime the computer bleeps to tell me it's my move I'm flicking back to the chess game but I've obviously not been concentrating properly... on either!

Cheers.....
It's only the literature review, & I've nearly finished it now, but it's taken me days.
It will be finished & submitted in the morning, then I'm considering getting smashed tomorrow!

Well played again Wub.... I shouldn't have sacrificed that bishop earlier on for positional advantage.

You totally outplayed me, albeit dropping the bishop earlier on was a terrible move by me. But I thought 27...c5 was a great move, I'm sure that's not a mistake, I'll do the computer analysis, but I'm sure you're completely winning after 28...Bxf3, you just need to find the right moves. I had to give it lots of thought around that stage of the game to find any moves that weren't completely losing, I was just trying to hang on.

At that point I thought #27 was going to be a decisive move, but again just couldn't find that killer move to finish it off.
I saw most of the moves you were going to make right up to the doubling up of the rooks where it all fell apart for me, but by that time I needed a way out & couldn't find one!

Apparently Ng4 is completely winning, I have to give up my queen, and will get mated soon afterwards.

1g9w

The king check was the right idea, but it was just one move too early.

I'm sure I'd seen that coming which is why I played #27 in the first place.... must've just forgotten what I was doing!
But yeh ng4 forces the queen onto the back rank & it would be game over not long after that.

Might start making notes on the game as it goes on !

I can't make any more moves this evening, I've got stuff to do, I'm just pointing out that I'd be agreeable to a draw as you never see my draw offers!

That's why I pointed it out because I can't really see either of us winning that position. Two good games, just one slip up otherwise I think they would both have been draws.

I don't want to sound arrogant, but he has got quite a lot of catching up to do! But he's playing far better than when we started and the recent games have been much closer.

No I'm a long way behind & I'd need to win a lot of games on the trot to get even a sniff of catching up!
