Fair enough - but this topic keeps coming up over and over so obviously what we are doing now isnt working. If we ban people outright we look hypocritical considering the DIF ban happy attitude that we criticise.
The only other solution is that people strictly ignore Trolling but.....somebody eventually bites and the trioll gets his/her attention fix and we get another ban/don't ban thread like this which gives the troll another attention boost.
Stick 'em in a pen, poke em now and again but obviously dont have the pen in public view. Keeps the trolls out of mischief because they will always think "somebody may be listening" Just basic psychology really.

1st instance of trolling a week out, then 2, then 4, then 8 etc, eventually they'll get the message or get bored of waiting for their time out to expire when it gets upto a year.

Yep, you're right - BT certainly highlight that aspect.............what could be a solution to that? Maybe a question for Tech/Admin - Can individuals be restricted to a certain post count per day system? If someone is limited to 20 posts a day surely they would want to make them count (suspected trolls only obviously)

I think i recall that this site does have a filter (i dont think there are any words entered into it to be flitered at present.)

But not so sure it can be restricted or applied to one category. It would apply it site wide. If youve heard of that being done, it may have been using other forums. With kunena i doubt it could be done.. unless someone is up for some programming work. :hahano:

Same goes for posts per day restrictions, no provision to make that happen in admin settings.

I disagree with this statement WH. We definitely don't have a ban happy attitude here. We agonise over it collectively for ages before any hammer comes down. Totally the opposite of what happens on DIF where bans happen frequently/quickly and often for no reason other than the whim of a mod.

I've never been part of a forum that makes such collective decisions, I don't think many exist. I think the fact that we discuss at length and as a community any bans or suspensions is what will stop niggles and fragmentations. Its majority decision, and not where all the members indoctrinated robots.

I don't think it will be an issue at any time, personally.

He has the chance to chip in, but instead decides to belittle Marina's hard work.
There has been numerous (look and you will find) replies from BT designed to deliberately get someone's goat. Not something that has slowly gone that way, but deliberate and unwarranted blatant attempts to troll.
When in conversation, he DELIBERATELY twists what is being said to try and cause chaos.
He gives us clues with comments like "looking for common ground is not in my mind". Is that not what you do when trying to have a reasonable conversation?

Don't forget the biggest one of all. HE IS COUSIN FROTHY. He's been banned once before for his trolling attitude.
