I'd imagine the majority of genuine world class players over the years have taken it all with a pinch of salt, as the one thing they all have in common is that they just absolutely love playing football and not much else, and probably can't understand what all the fuss is about. That definitely seems to be the case with Messi anyhow.

As in all walks of life though, you've got a wide spectrum of personalities.. I've met a few players in Newcastle, and the best player out of all of them was Peter Beardsley, and he was also the most shy and down to earth. I know a couple of people who've met Shearer, and they reckon he's one of the most arrogant cunts you're ever likely to meet - as well as being the most god awful pundit to have ever lived.

Tottenham don't half do hard business.... not just the vast sums of money they seem able to command, but by leaving deals until right until the last minute making everybody sweat on it. It's shrewd business by Levy - he knows the Bale sale could lead to a transfer merry-go-round with Madrid probably needing to shift a couple of players.....possibly to Spuds rivals - but if it doesn't happen till the last minute, it makes that much more difficult.
Still no signings for United - there's a lot of disgruntled fans whinging away!

Yeah, the spuds have made three very decent looking signings in one day. Would be really looking forward to this season, if I didn't think Newcastle were going to struggle again..
