Many of the initial members have had to deal with health and personal issues, on a larger site that would be less noticeable.
I also think that if you keep putting out there the idea that SZ is a cosy clique/private party then that is what it will become.
Have you seen any new member be rejected because they're unknowns, or have you seen them welcomed?
I've seen people chuck their toys and leave either because they have been in confrontations over topics or because they believe they have.
There goes the lovey-dovey idea.

It's hard work establishing a site. It really isn't just "build it and they will come." Sometimes it takes a long time to bed in.

I don't see it as “cliquey” myself, to be honest. I came here only knowing a few faces (good faces), and find the people I didn't know before are as friendly and welcoming to me as everyone else is.

I think we are all welcoming to new people. I can't see the problem.

Guest posting can be disabled just as well as enabled if a problem arises. No one knows what is gonna happen.

And yes, there is a certain clique here, not so much as along the lines of highschool all over again, but the members I have seen here (posting regularly) are ALL ones that were from another place...we all interacted with each other at one point or another over there. We're mainly posting like friends emailing each other, teasing, disagreements, agreements, etc... are all happening and we're getting along because we all know each other. That, I do think is keeping a few new members from joining in and signing up...there is a certain feel to the place because we all dealt with each other before and that does enable the ability to go round teasing the shit out of each other and no on really taking offense to it. Outsiders may see that as being "this is a group thing just for the already existing members".

As for us all getting a say in what is gonna happen...that is great! Having a say in it is awesome... but at some point the mods and team running this forum are gonna have to make the final decision on anything. A time frame should be put out, poll will be open from this date to this date, and then close the poll and do what they see fit because nothing is getting done by leaving it open. The members say, IMO, needs to be limited to a time frame and then the final decision left to those running the site.

Edit: Having just looked at the votes that have been cast...most of the regular posters here have weighed in. Unless I am not thinking properly and missing someone(s)...it seems the vote has been made. I personally think the poll should be closed and the mods go behind closed doors and make the final decision like a jury in a court room.

I hope it's not taken as me having a go at Irre either.
